If a relaxing vacation is what you want, you can definitely find it in the Lowcountry. Known for its beautiful natural surroundings, the Lowcountry boasts streams, marshes, inlets and ponds which are all connected to the Atlantic Ocean. Birds and alligators are just some of the animals that make up its busy wildlife.

Likewise, the Lowcountry has golf courses as well as commercial and residential developments that were built with a more thoughtful and less intrusive design. This is the huge reason why it never fails to attract golfers and tourists alike.

Here are the best golf courses that you should include in your itinerary when you are in the Lowcountry.

1. Eagle's Pointe Golf Club

Where: 1 Eagle's Pointe Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909

Established in 1998, this 18-hole public golf course is designed by Davis Love III and measures 6,738 yards from the longest tees. With a slope rating of 130 and a USGA rating of 72.5, the course features 4 sets of tees in order to match the different skill levels. Its prominent features include natural beauty, risk-reward design, variety, strategy, superb conditioning, spacious corridors and superb customer service.

2. The Golf Club At Hilton Head Lakes

Where: 2500 Wiregrass Way, Bluffton, SC 29927

Formerly known as Tradition National, The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes was designed by Tommy Fazio who made use of the natural wetlands and the lakes throughout the over 250 acre-course in order to come up with a golf course that has a challenging run. Measuring up to 7,300 yards in length, the course features five tee placements which range between 4,955 yards and 6,650 yards. It has well-contoured and well-angled greens to allow multiple pin positions. As a result, golfers gain a unique experience every day including the residents who are regular golf players in the area. Some of its amenities include a short-game practice area, a practice facility designed with an 8-acre driving range that has six target greens, a full-service golf shop, and a 6-hole, par-3 learning center.

3. Oldfield Golf Club
