There’s always something exciting to do in Savannah. And for October, we’ve rounded up events that caught our eye and are coming up during the month. These are in addition to Halloween happenings in the city. Head over to the Jepson Center for an afternoon of celebrating Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. Here’s what on for FREE Family Day. You get to go on a scavenger hunt of the exhibition “Monet to Matisse: Masterworks of French Impressionism.” And then, you can experiment with pointillism, a painting technique in which you apply small, distinct dots of color to form an image, making miniature Impressionist paintings of your very own.

Last year, the Isle of Hope Art & Music Fest was back by popular demand after a one-year hiatus. And this year it promises to again host dozens of amazing local artists, new and returning vendors that include food trucks, and an impressive list of talented musicians slated to deliver tunes ranging from jazz to rock. All against the background of breathtaking scenery. What more could you ask?

The Savannah PRIDE Festival is back in the heart of town again and there’s lots in store. It kicks off with a Southern twist on the old school drag ball. Saturday events include a larger-than-life bar crawl and a Pawrade where participants celebrate Pride and Halloween in costume with their furry friends. And when 10pm comes around, the official after-party gets cranked up.

This race weekend is not to be missed. It’s one that’s full of events that are fun for the entire family. Series races and enduros are part of the experience, and you can opt for a hot lap ride, touring lap or pit access if you want to get up close and personal with the action. Limited bleacher seating is available along the track. You can also bring a blanket or chair and claim a spot on the lawn.

OCTOBER 27-NOVEMBER 3
Did you know that more than 50,000 people attend this eight-day festival of cinematic excellence each year? If you are among them, you’re sure to find something that will strike your fancy. The fest showcases groundbreaking documentaries, Oscar contenders, animation and more. The cost of entry also gets you access to panel discussions and engaging lectures. And when you hang out at Savannah Film Festival, you can expect to have a celebrity sighting or two.

Come on out y’all to the 30th anniversary of this highly popular festival that draws more than 10,000 attendees annually. Take your pick of delicious Jewish delicacies that range from deli sandwiches and potato latkes to stuffed cabbage and homemade challah. There’s family entertainment too – music and dance – and Monterey Square makes a welcoming venue indeed.
